No longer starving myself

While I never felt like I was starving myself, I truly was. I would not eat all day and then binge at night on processed foods and empty calories, robbing my body of all it needed. This app I was talking about in my previous post, MyFitnessPal has opened my eyes. After journalling every last thing that has hone into my body for the past 5 days straight I am getting closer to the goal of 1400 (good) calories per day. Prior to this app I was consuming approx. 800 calories in a day, and even if that is all healthy, it is not enough to convince my metabolism that I am not going to starve it again. REVELATIONS! I never really understood or paid attention to calories before, mostly because of my strong dislike for math, but now I'm really able to understand the importance of understanding how many calories you are consuming in a day.

What did we do before apps

I got the myfitnesspal app for the iPhone. It's incredible, I've learned so much about me in one night including that I am still under-eating. I need to consume at least 200 more calories at breakfast to lose weight. Yes you read that right. For anyone confused by how an obese person can claim to under-eat please read the following thread.

After a roller coaster weekend

It's time for some pb & j on whole wheat. I don't know about the rest of you, but in times of turmoil, it's really hard to not dive into a bag of chips. I figure sandwiches are as close to healthy comfort food as it gets.

Truth about Tortilla's

I always thought that a wrap was healthier than a sandwich, until I looked at the label on the tortilla package. 540mg of sodium in one wrap??? Dear god! That's double the sodium that you would get from 2 slices of bread. I really wanted a wrap so I got the sodium reduced version which has about equal nutritional content.

2 years, 100 lbs

For the record, yes it's been two years since I created this blog. In that time I lost & regained 50 lbs (hence 100 lb title). I fractured my tailbone at the peak of the weight regain and am now more determined than ever to heal, get fit, and live healthy! 4 weeks post-injury and I am down ten lbs. I'm being guided by an incredible RMT/acupuncturist/yoga instructor and a registered dietician. This time around I need to lose 100 lbs, not yoyo a 100 lbs.

Hardest part

Finding the time and energy to think about & prep meals. I love fast and easy BBQ recipes
